Jo had stayed with us overnight and we were joined by John and Polly for a linear walk of the Fellbarrow and the Low Fell ridge. Unfortunately Roger was at work for the day and couldn't join us. Jo and Jodie at one of the newly erected gates on the track leading up the fell side. Grasmoor is the fell to the left, the High Stile ridge to the right. Rannerdale can be seen at the side of Crummock with Haystacks behind. John and Jo about to make their way up the steep grassy ascent towards the trees on the skyline. Fellbarrow is the rising fell on the left. Grasmoor in the clouds in the far distance, the lower slopes of Low Fell immediately behind as we continue the climb. Polly enjoys chewing a log complete with vegetation ! Fellbarrow summit with the Solway Plain and sea in the distance. John enjoys a mid-walk snack, much to the interest of the dogs !
A cloudy view of Crummock and the Buttermere Valley. The Gables and beyond are hidden by low cloud today. The summit viewpoint looking down to the hamlet of Loweswater and our Cottage far below. Mellbreak is the prominent fell in centre photo. John relaxes after our lunch just below Low Fell's southern summit.
A final view of the valley as we make our way down from the Tree and back to the Cottage. .All that remained after a cup of tea and cake, was for myself to be dropped off to collect the car at Thackthwaite.
