Another family milestone once again with two big events this
month for Jenna and Matt.
The first is Jenna's "Life begins at 40" birthday
and the second where life really does begin for young Sophie,
when Jenna gives birth to her second child, my tenth grandchild
presented to me by my four children.

Loes and I travel across to Yorkshire
to give Jenna her presents for her birthday.
She's expecting an imminent arrival
but hoped it would be delayed till after her personal
celebration.
A photo book of her early years was the major
present
which I had created for her,
just as Ann and I had done in previous years
for our other three children.
A second present was gift wrapped, allowing Emily
chance to help open it.

It was a photo, not of Emily but of Jenna taken
at approximately the age Emily is now. The similarity
is striking.

Paula and
Jenna look through the book . . . |
. . . picking up early
pictures of Ann, Jen's grandparents and family. |
The larger colour photo was of my wedding day,
Paula being the young lady with the posy of flowers, third from
the left.

Loes entertains,
or was being entertained, by Emily. |
We were joined by Abi
later in the morning. |
Emily needed a sleep in the afternoon and we
all would appreciate a short walk and a breath of fresh air
so we headed down to the newly refurbished mill
pond in the centre of Paula's village of Tickhill.
The ducks are also able to fully enjoy it now
the lake is back up to its normal level.
This female mallard duck also has a young family
. . . a young brood new to the ways of the world.
We spent an anxious moment watching them cope
with the fast moving current of the mill race.

On our return we celebrated Jenna's birthday
with a cake and candles.
Paula had also found an indoor firework
to go with the candelabra on the cake.

The sparkler made up for the lack of space for
the full compliment of candles.
Jen has assistance to blow out the candles once
the big sparkler had finished.

Loes and I were back in Yorkshire a week later
to celebrate another birthday . . . that of Sophie Annalise.
First photo of the new arrival.

A short
while later the same morning . . . |
. . . and the following
day when things had settled down slightly. |

Jen was
back home after just a few days . . . |
. . . and we were
able to visit her at her home in Sheffield. |

Chance
for Loes to hold the new arrival . . . |
. . . and chance for
us to spend time with "Big Sister" ! |

Matt found
the bubble-gun for Emily to play with. |
It was more of a case
of watch the bubbles before they got blown away. |
She has grown in confidence these last few
months and become more animated as befits her age.
|
|
|
|
She sat
in her trike in the back yard . . . |
. . . and enjoyed
the fun being driven round chasing the bubbles. |
Jen published this collage on her Facebook to
celebrate the newly expanded family.
April 2024 will be a memorable month for everyone.
