On Wednesday we traveled down to Swansea to celebrate the wedding of our son Gareth and Rhian Owen.

A big family event for both families at a superb venue on the Gower Coast.

Welcome to the King Arthur Hotel in Reynoldston.

The hotel was looking delightful, decked out in lovely flower baskets.

The function suite is built onto the back of the main hotel building.          (photographed on our visit last year)

We were met by Gareth and Rhian . . . and Luke.
In the rooms shortly after . . . Abi was in charge of feeding duties.

Luke is now 4 months old (as of 1st August) . . . our granddaughter Abi is a little older !

We'd booked two nights B&B at the hotel

to cover the night before and the night of the wedding.

Family and friends were down

and we had dinner this evening with Pat and Mike

who had travelled from Nottinghamshire for the wedding.

Cathy and Richard had booked a week self-catering.

Paula and Al were staying with friends locally.

That just left Jenna, who had arranged

to stay with her friend in Llanelli,

and who would join us tonight.

Ann and Pat . . . one side of the table.

Myself and Mike . . . on the other.

Cathy, Richard and family and Jenna filled the other end of our extended table.

Part-way through, Rhian appeared bearing gifts . . .

"Ushers" socks for Alexander . . .
. . . and "Father of the Groom" for me . . . in case I forgot !

In the morning all the plans started to roll into place.

The cake with a seaside theme, arrived . . . as did the flowers.

Gareth & Rhian had provided a handy guide to who's who.
Ann proudly pinned the flower on her son's lapel.

Look out . . . trouble has arrived . . . Gareth's three sisters . . . no peace now.

Chance of a family photo of our four siblings together.

Time to distribute the other flowers and bouquets . . . it's all go in the make-up department.

No, they didn't shrink in the wash . . . these were for the younger family members.

Time to be serious and concentrate . . .

as Gareth and Alexander listen to the celebrant and her instructions for the wedding ceremony.

Rhian's friends had got together and formed a small group to sing during the proceedings.

Songs included The Beatles "All you need is Love" . . . amongst others.

People started to take their places . . . Ann and Alexander had seats at the front.

Pat and Mike meet up with Al, Paula and Tom.

Luke is is the capable hands of Viv,

Rhian's Mum, Rob is behind.

Luke had the cutest of small suits

that matched those

of Gareth and the wedding party.

Darina (Dee) and Gareth . . . she was his "Best Man" as she has been his best friend since school days.

You may have noticed her on the Stag Night photos that I posted a month or so ago.

The ceremony proceeds with all the 'legal' vows

. . . and also special ones

that Gareth and Rhian

had both written for the occasion.

Alexander

as well as being an Usher,

had the title of  "Ring Bearer"

and was there

when called upon to hand over the wedding rings.

" Signing the Register "

It's legal and we can light the lights !

Time to gather the family together . . .

. . . for the first of many official photos.

After the ceremony we were invited to adjourn to the hotel for coffee and Welsh Cakes.

The welsh cakes were made by Viv's sister-in-law . . . Rhian's auntie Davinia.

Gareth is congratulated by Sandra, Gill and Jackie.

My chance to hold Luke for another photo.

All change . . . Jenna, Viv and myself with Luke.

Ann and Gill . . . they were colleagues in Gowerton School before they both retired.

Mike is joined by Richard and the Cantelo boys . . . our grandsons Sam, Matt and Alexander.

It was a humid day and the hotel was warm and slightly crowded

so folk soon moved to the outside to talk and appreciate the fresh air and the views.

Rhian and the Cantelo boys.

Sadly their older brother Jack couldn't make today it as he started a new Junior Doctor's job in Birmingham yesterday.

Luke was awake

and lots of people were able to have a little hold.

He was superb and even at 4 months old

he took it all in his stride.

All he needed was a little feed now and again

and someone to cuddle him

. . . and all was well.

There would be a short break now

while Gareth and Rhian were taken

to a local beauty spot, Three Cliffs Bay,

for a quiet photo shoot of their own.

We'll see the results of that in due course.

In the mean time we'll also have a short break

before we continue the rest of the day.
