Greetings from Keswick . . . as seen in one of the local art galleries.

A lunchtime stroll to  Derwent Water . . .

Hope you've done yours.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Headquarters.

The Boat Landings at Derwent Water.

The famous Catbells outline in slight silhouette on the opposite side of the lake.

Causey Pike (signature outline in centre) as seen by the seagulls and ducks down at the water's edge.

Time to be heading back to work.

"The first snow on Skiddaw"

this year fell on December the 5th.

This was a slightly disappointing date

as it didn't coincide with my guess in the staff quiz.

Someone else won the prize for getting closer !

With the days drawing in it was usually dark as I left work.

Here the view from Fisher's window, a view taken at dusk (mid to late afternoon)

Truly dark as we close at the end of the day.

Time for a short stroll around town to enjoy the Christmas lights.

Bright windows in the Toy Chest.
Bright walls outside Treeby and Bolton

The Moot Hall and the square outside Barclays Bank.

Fine lights on the Skiddaw Hotel.

The Moot Hall from lower down the square.

Tree lights where the buskers often play.
Iconic signs for iconic watering holes.

Bryson's Bakery and Tearooms always has a lovely Christmas window.

Father Christmas . . . from the sublime . . .
. . . to the ridiculous £££

All ready for the big day ahead.

Back in Loweswater and Buttermere it is time for two nights of carol singing

collecting money for the NSPCC.

Indoors as we sing for our friends and neighbours . . .
. . . Indoors because it's raining  hard the first night.

Dry coats the second night . . .
. . . as we raise our voices at Syke Farm

This week I drove over to Cockermouth for a special event . . .

They have great lights and have bounced back after another difficult trading year

as the road works in main street stopped traffic for far too many months during spring and summer 2014.

Full marks all round as the town regains its holiday atmosphere . . . this is Station Street.

At the top of the road another Mountain Rescue Base . . .

. . . and I have a five o'clock appointment today.

The sale of the Loweswatercam Calendar 2015 has raised £375 for Mountain Rescue charities again this year. With a pound from every copy sold, we have again been able to help out two of the local Lake District rescue teams, namely Cockermouth and Duddon & Furness.

The presentation coincided with two of Loweswatercam viewers being in the Lakes for a Christmas holiday. Steven and Sarah from Cornwall were one of the two winners of the web site summer competition that caught the millionth hit on the Loweswatercam website web counter. They donated their small prize to the Cockermouth team so this visit had a special meaning too when I was able to invite them to the Cockermouth base to help present the cheque.

Many thanks to Chris Abbot and team member Martin for showing us all round the base.

It just remains to say . . .

A word from our two fellow travellers.
. . . and the "icing on the cake" . . . that cheque from you all !

Thanks for joining Ann and myself through the year

in person or through the pages of our site.
