Another trip to Darling Fell by Ann in search of that elusive holly tree.

She tried hard to find it again last time, maybe today she will be more successful.

[ No specific tracklog today as she didn't know her exact route]

Heading up the Mosser track to turn at "Jon's Seat" out onto the fell side at the stile.

A beautifully calm day and the smoke from Watergate Barn is rising straight up

then flattening out as the smoke cools to the ambient air temperature.

A panorama of the reflections on Loweswater.

Ann and the dogs headed up to the old quarry and then up the fell slightly, then perhaps back, or down a bit or sideways . . .

It was worth the effort as she re-found the holly tree from a week or so ago.

It certainly was well endowed with berries as she said.

A closer shot with Grasmoor in the background.

. . . and again with Mellbreak this time.

A little higher up the fell now and there's a bank of low cloud just touching Hen Comb in the centre,

and spreading across the High Stile Ridge, leaving only the summit of Red Pike showing behind Mellbreak.

Zooming in on the fell you can make out two paragliders enjoying the thermals and up-drafts.

The setting sun has started to light up the high cloud with richer sunset colours.

The colours spread across the sky.

From the track that colour reflects nicely in the lake . . .
. . . and shines through as red back at the car by the end of the walk.
