I haven't worn a dress suit and bow tie for more years than I care to remember

so it came as a pleasant surprise and a welcome opportunity to get dressed up again and show a touch of style,

normally hidden beneath the Gortex and woolly socks . . .

Family photo . . . all dressed up and somewhere to go . . . our Grandson's 18th.

Meet the family . . . Jenna, Catherine, Gareth, Paula, myself and Ann.

Meet the in-laws . . . Richard's family, or most of them.

Matthew, Sam. Peter, Jean, Rhiannon, Alexander, Leisl, Ali, Sally, Jack and Richard.

Jack's friends and school mates . . . dressed to impress.

Tom, Paula and Al pose for a 3/4 family photo.

The reception was at the Sandhurst Academy so we had a short walk from the house.

Walk this way . . . ignore all spelling mistakes along the way !

Tom, Sam, Leisl (Ali's daughter) and friend.

Matthew with Ann on one side and Natasha on the other.

All that is missing is the red carpet.

The Sandhurst Academy buildings where we were to be entertained.

Grand and historic surroundings in which to celebrate.

Formal photos to start.

Our son Gareth and Ann.
Tom and Abigail . . . two of our grandchildren.

Gareth checks the photo with Jenna.
Jack (birthday boy) and Sarah.

Sara and Ian, and their children Ethan and Nia.

Jack and his mum, Catherine.

Mum and her elder boys . . . and handbag !

While we were socialising over a lemonade or two

we were entertained by Rhiannon

who is a fine flautist.

She has a remarkable talent

and is pursuing a career in music and teaching.

After a fine meal and speeches . . . just like a wedding . . . we continued the birthday celebrations.

We take to the dance floor where I compliment Richard on his choice of shirt.

Nice colours mate . . .  good call . . . don't know whether the stripes go with the floral !

It befalls to Dad to dance with his daughter.

Music by Peter . . . Sally's son and Jack's cousin.

Getting in the mood !

Time out with Paula and Al . . . who had also taken time out.

Don't ask me to re-tie the tie.

Gareth reminds his big sister how much alcohol she should consume !

Tom agrees !

Tom dragged onto the dance floor . . . with his Dad (and other family members).

Carried along by the music . . . a great time was had by all.

Jackets put to one side as the evening progresses.

Sally obviously enjoying herself.

I'll have to remember to just buy them lemonade in future . . . I blame Facebook !
