This sunny Sunday afternoon walk finds Ann, Jo and John on Hen Comb, bumping into lots of people on the way.

When you go for a fell walk and recognise so many of the people you meet then it feels like a small world.

First though, lets get out onto the fells.

Plenty of Spring daffodils in Loweswater Church yard.

Mellbreak as a background to this fine bull at Kirkgate Farm

Interesting light as we walk up the track.

Jo and Jodie

Harry has a swim in his pool before we set on up the fell.

We met our first set of friends here, our distant neighbours from Watergate Barn. (sorry no photos)

Whiteside and Lorton Vale behind us as we continue upwards.

Talking heads !

The next group we met were also known to us.

Here Martin, Claire and Andy continue their way down after we had stopped for a chat.

A little further on and we bump into OFC member and local guide John Scadding

with two of his clients and their four-legged companion, a Lancashire Heeler.

Great fun to be had with the five dogs.

We reach the summit of Hen Comb . . . quite a breeze up here Jo !

A bit hazy towards the top end of the Buttermere valley.

Clearer views towards the west as we all leave the summit.

Low fell and Fellbarrow enjoying good sunshine.

The descent, with Carling Knott, Loweswater and Darling Fell ahead.

Harry trying out his new false teeth !! Polly peeping around behind Harry (well camouflaged !)
The back feet come into action as Polly looks on, she'd love to join in but this play fighting is strictly between the siblings.

The expansive view as we make our way down.

And down further . . .

The view is so lovely, Jo and John take time to enjoy it to the full.

This is a lovely view of Whiteside, Hopegill Head and Grasmoor, Mellbreak slope to the right,

Harry's pool can be seen at the bottom . . . the dogs were already in at this point !

Voila !

Harry awaits a stick . . . Polly has a good bark !

So does Bethan, here relaxing on the bank with Jodie, Jo and John.

Back towards the gate and our cottage is straight ahead in this view.

I wonder if there are any cheese scones waiting ?

That mountain view again, this time over the stone wall.

The Kirkstile Inn.

As we passed, plenty of folk enjoying their drinks outside on this lovely afternoon.

But we continue past . . . yes . . . cheese scones and a welcome cuppa were waiting in our garden !
