The Mosedale Pool walk with Gareth at EveryTrail

The big weather front has moved away and before the next one arrives

we have the most glorious day of early winter sunshine.

Snow on the tops just adds that extra icing on the cake.

We may be restricted in our walking as Harry continues his gentle exercise regime,

but with glorious sunshine and blue skies, Gareth and I have no problems with getting out walking around our local area.

We have just passed the Kirkstile Inn, which is just a few hundred yards up the lane from home.

The low sun catches the larch trees at the base of Mellbreak.

The view over the wall as we walk up the track.

Snow is just touching the tops of Grasmoor to the right and Hopegill Head in the distance.

Hydrotherapy of the water but not the heated variety !

Harry so loves his swimming, whatever the temperature of the water.

Bethan did have one quick swim , but prefers it when on a warmer day !

I wander down below the pool to view the waterfall.

Looking into the sun and back at Gareth still at the pool with the two dogs.

The view downstream

Just a few leaves remaining on the trees.

Unfortunately this fine day was followed by more torrential rain

and gale force winds for the next few days, which has stripped

most of the remaining leaves from the local trees.

Still, we couldn't complain about the weather today

and we made the most of this lovely sunny interlude.

One of my favourite local views. the twin peaks of Darling Fell and Low Fell from the Mosedale track.

Shades of green, brown, grey, white , all framed by a perfect blue sky.

Red berries remain on this tree but no leaves. Grasmoor again to the right, with a wisp of cloud above.

When we walked up the lane from the cottage, the sun was just in the wrong place for a view up the valley.

On our return, it was in a better position to photograph the more extensive snowfall on the Gables,

High Stile ridge to the right and Robinson to the left.

Finally, zooming in up the valley head as we reach home.
