Tuesday evening we had an invitation to the south west of the Lakes to present a cheque to the Duddon and Furness MRT.

Duddon provide rescue cover in the western area of the Lakes, south of the Wasdale Valley and west of the Coniston Team area.

John babysitting the dogs for a few moments before we visit the base.

It was a Tuesday night and we were invited along while the team was in attendance.

Following our welcome by Martin Cooper (centre), Peter responded with a few words.

Paul was delighted to present the cheque to Stephe Cove, the Duddon Team Chairman, on behalf of the OFC.

The money was raised from the sale of the latest edition of the club magazine . . . "The Lost Sheep"

Team members listen attentively, their jackets reflecting the camera flash beautifully !

While the team started their training meeting

we adjourned outside where Martin and Cynthia served coffee and introduced us to the base routines.

This is one of their three rescue vehicles and we learned what was involved in equipping the vehicle.

Back indoors, Steve talks to Skye, a local SARDA Rescue Dog belonging to John, one of the team members.

We were able to eavesdrop as the team checked out their kit bags.

Final photo call as we pose with some of the team members.

The money we raised will go towards the on-going team expenses.

The £500 will go towards the cost of new equipment or cover team expenses incurred in a single call out to save life on the fells.
