Location of Event : The Mosser Road end, Loweswater , Cumbria, Uk ( NY 127 218 )

Places visited : An up and back along the Mosser Road from Loweswater Lake.

Walk details : 2.5 ml, 500 ft of ascent, 1 hours 25mins.

Highest point : Mosser Fell Road 800 ft ( 250m )

Walked with : Myself (Ann) and the dogs, Harry and Bethan.

Weather : A beautiful sunny afternoon at last.

Afternoon sunshine on the Mosser Road

After the cold damp days when the snow fell, there's a change today as the sun shines brightly for most of the day.

The late afternoon sun goes on to add colour to the wintry scene.

The road is getting very rough since the Autumn floods cut big ruts in the surface.

Snow covered Darling Fell summit comes into view.

Ahead Fellbarrow's flatter summit from the fell road. The lady in the car ahead had to make a diffficult

U-turn as she found the road surface deteriorating. It is rare to see vehicles other than farm ones up here.

Having reached the top, I turned and started to retrace my steps.

One for certain ladies . . . a green helicopter crossing Mosser Fell

The view back towards Loweswater and Mellbreak with snow covered Lingcomb Edge leading to Red Pike.

Starling Dodd and Hen Comb are also to the right of Mellbreak.

It was this view that formed the opening scene in the "Miss Potter" film last year.

Late afternoon sun starts to colour the high cloud.

Back at the hall in Loweswater, the colour becomes more intense and shines now in the face of Grasmoor.

Mellbreak's darker side as the light fades.

We'll have to call this one "Pink-side" in future !
