We pause at the signpost where we turn for Crummock Water

Grasmoor is lit up with a spell of sunshine as we walk along the lane towards the bridge below Scale Hill.

Even the Gables are more or less out of cloud on the far right of this photo.

There is nowhere for the rain to go, the fields are saturated.

Reflections in one of many puddles as we walk towards Crummock Water.

Rannerdale is now in sunshine and Great Gable can be seen above the darker shape of Haystacks.

The sunshine has now moved across to High Stile as Crummock Water comes into view.

The wet ground as we cross to the Pump House.
Waves on the lake with the boathouse in the background.

A squall working it's way across the lake as we cross the bridge.

A closer look at the squall.

There is no sun on either Rannerdale or the High Stile ridge now.

The rough 'sea' !

The rough water doesn't put Harry off though.

The sluice gates at the bottom end of Crummock.

"You're taking a lot of photos today Mum !"

Harry waiting for me to cross the bridge.

Plenty of water coming out of the lake today.

Harry waiting for a stick. . .
. . . . . found it !

We are now on our way home after walking through Lanthwaite Woods, seen beyond the field.

Grasmoor is having another soaking as the rain drives across once again.

Much darker again further up the valley. Will we make it home in the dry ?

I think we'll make it - there's the cottage and the red phone box . . . just in time as the brief dry spell was coming to an abrupt end !
