Location of Start : Roadside near Binsey Cottage , Cumbria, Uk. ( NY 235 350 )

Places visited : From the sheepfold and quarry, up to Binsey Summit and back.

Walk details : 1.6 mls, 575 ft of ascent, 55 mins.

Walked with : Ann and the dogs, Harry and Bethan.

Weather : Feeling cold and damp in the strong breeze, but there was no rain or snow fall.

Overwater and in front, the trees surrounding Binsey Cottage.

We chose a short trip up Binsey today due to other commitments earlier today.

The walk up from Binsey Cottage to the summit is always good for an hour's walk and today we almost didn't take the camera

as it had been a grey sort of day in Loweswater.

It started off as a grey day here too. The cloud is down on Skiddaw but Dash Falls to the left is clear.

The morning showers have left a light covering of snow across the fells.

The view across to Bassenthwaite Lake.

The wind is strong and it feels damp after the snow showers . . . generally a lot colder than yesterday.

All of a sudden the sun made an appearance from under the cloud.

Bright sunlight streaks across the North Western Fells . . .

. . . extending all the way over here, lighting up small Latrigg next to Overwater . . .

. . . and the distant Caldbeck TV transmission aerials on the next hill.

Zooming in on Ann, the white clouds behind are in fact snow on the foothills of Scotland.

We made the only footprints up here this afternoon, dogs and sheep excluded of course.

On our return, the sun has gone but the clouds on Skiddaw have lifted slightly

to form a more consistent sort of cap on the high peak.
