Hear no sunshine, see no sunshine, feel no sunshine.

Jill and Jo were up for the weekend and so a short walk was called for once they had arrived Friday afternoon.

It's been a bit damp here over the last few days so a walk in Holme Woods to see the waterfall would seem a good idea.

Low Fell and the southern end of Loweswater.

The sheep are watching us pass from a safe distance. No need, there was a fence and hedge between us.

High tide at Loweswater.

Recent rain has raised the level of the lake so that it is flooding the field.

Winter afternoons mean early sunsets

There's a pink colour in the clouds as the sun goes down behind the fells.

The rowing boats, usually by the lakeside in summer, have been moved to their winter storage racks.

We followed the forest tracks up and then across through the wood to Holme Beck

The upper reaches of the waterfall are often hidden by the heavy tree cover but with the winter season the leaves have fallen to allow us a better view.

Recent forest clearance has also opened up the view.

This is a close up of the top spout of the falls.

There has been a substantial amount of selective clearance of the non-native trees.

Hopefully the commercial clearance will stop before the mixed woodland effect is lost.

One for the lads - photo of heavy plant - the off road forestry tractor and grab trailer.

Holme Wood Bothy - owned by the National Trust - it is available for holiday rental by the way.

A brief walk and time to return to the car before total darkness sets in.
