Today's crew on the ascent of Mellbreak.

Richard, Jack, Al, Thomas, Sam and Matthew.

Climbing well

Thomas almost near the top.

A stop to enjoy the view after the steep climb,

with Fleetwith Pike and Buttermere, Green and Great Gable, High Stile, Red Pike and Pillar to look at.

Even the bear made it up this time

~ part of Sam's school project to take his class mascot on holiday ~

Marcus and Melanie - two new distant neighbours of ours
Thomas -the Jedi- the 102nd use for a Polar Buff

Unfortunately while crossing the heather and rough top of Mellbreak Thomas took a dive and ended up in a rather damp, cold and muddy puddle, so a quick change of clothes and drain of the wellies was required, hence the altered appearance since the last photo.

Back home and all is well.

The Lego box, with the addition of some Lego Technic

provided entertainment for the boys,

while conversation and a glass of red wine

provided entertainment for us.

The evening sunshine slowly fades behind Low Fell.

Sunset casting red light on Gable at the head of the valley . . .

and also on the one the boys climbed today, Mellbreak.
