Retreat to the quiet of the Western Lakes

The Cottage, and the view up the Buttermere Valley
Oak Cottage, Loweswater.

Week Six. . . .

Told you so . . . . Enter the Frank the Tiler, stage right - along with the Cumberland mix of tiles, and his bucket of adhesive.

.

A day later, the magic was done, and the kitchen was complete, bar a lick of paint !!

Monday was the builder's last day,

Wednesday the electrician's last day, and Thursday the plasterer's last day.

Time to sweep up before the Lady of the house arrives.

As a consequence, she sees . . . .

.

A clean and tidy lounge, a swept staircase,

A clean, but unwashed utility, and a completed loft bedroom.

Ann rather missed out on all the dust. I bet she's pleased !!!

.

Next day - Friday . . .

Ann's new car fills the second space, now the skip has left, and its time for the next stage of the work.

Enter the decorator, to try and gain some sembleance of order prior to Christmas.

Ron the painter, after giving the walls a first coat, applies a little colour to the beams

Ann stands, or rather sits, back in amazement at the unfolding colour scheme.

.

From this week she can be classed as resident, and now can apply for her "Locals" passport.

I understand there is a twenty year or so qualification period !!

The end of Week Six . . . a significant step forward in many ways.
